Total Distribution, Inc. Continues to Support Second Harvest Food Bank

The Total Distribution, Inc. (TDI) Winston-Salem, NC Warehouse (Cold and Dry Storage) continues to support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina by bringing food to the many families adversely affected by COVID-19.

The TDI Winston-Salem General Manager, Julio Sotelo was contacted by Lisa Richardson, VP of Operations for Second Harvest, to put together a plan utilizing both TDI’s cold storage (zero degrees and below) and dry storage (ambient air temperature). “The goal was to relocate product to our facilities that were being stored temporarily in trailers in the Food Bank’s parking lot, as well as food supplies that were coming to the Food Bank via diverted inbound trucks,” said Sotelo.

TDI’s warehouse met Second Harvest’s unique needs of having both temperature control and ambient air temperature space, as well as being an AIB Certified Warehouse for storing food products. TDI’s location, which is less than eight miles from Second Harvest, was also a major advantage. Sotelo and Richardson expect the mutually beneficial relationship will continue well after COVID-19 is history.

Headquartered in Winston-Salem, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina is an essential source for food and support services for more than 430 food assistance programs operating throughout 18 Northwest North Carolina counties. This includes food supplies through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), and – in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic – additional food supplies through the Government Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP).
