SENATE COMMITTEE CLEARS STB NOMINEE
September 16 the Senate Commerce Committee voted favorably on the nomination of Robert Primus to the Surface Transportation Board. With Primus being a democratic-nominee, the Senate will now be able to move forward on confirmation by the full Senate for both him and republican-nominee Michelle Schultz. Schultz’s confirmation had been pending the nomination and approval of democratic-nominee to move in tandem with to fill the currently vacant seats on the Board.
While a vote by the Senate on these nominees may occur in the coming weeks, it is most likely that the Senate will advance them during the post-election lame-duck session in Congress.
IWLA and its allies in the Rail Customer Coalition (RCC) are working with Senate leadership staff to have these nominees confirmed as soon as possible.
