Seattle Supply Chain Executive Tom Herche Elected IWLA Chairman
April 23, 2014 (DES PLAINES, Ill.) – Members of the International Warehouse Logistics Association elected Tom Herche, president of Seattle-based United Warehouses as the 2014-2015 chairman. IWLA finalized the election March 25, during the 2014 IWLA Convention & Expo in Phoenix, Ariz.
Herche previously served as the association’s vice chairman and 2014 IWLA Convention Planning Committee Chairman. He succeeds Paul Verst, CWLP, president and CEO of Verst Group Logistics, Walton, Ky.
IWLA members also elected board officers:
Rob Doyle, CWLP, vice president of Business Development for Commercial Warehousing Inc., in Winterhaven, Fla., ascends to vice chairman and chairman-elect from the treasurer position.
Mark DeFabis, president & CEO for Integrated Distribution Services, Inc., in Plainfield, Ind., moves to treasurer from secretary.
Clifford Otto, president and CEO for Saddle Creek Logistics Services, in Lakeland, Fla., is the new IWLA secretary.
Tom Herche has more than 30 years of experience in the warehousing industry. As president of United Warehouses Herche is responsible for the company's operations, systems and infrastructure, finance, engineering, and customer service.
Herche’s other IWLA leadership positions include heading the IWLA Insurance & Legal Affairs Committee and service on the IWLA Government Affairs, Political Action, and Council of Chairs committees. In addition, Herche’s industry service includes time as president of the Washington State Warehouseman’s Association and the American Chain of Warehouses.
Herche holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Washington. Herche’s volunteer activities include: serving as board president for the Rotary Boys and Girls Club of Seattle, sitting on the board of trustees for the National MS Society Greater Northwest Chapter, and coaching Little League baseball and youth basketball over a period of 12 years.
Herche will remain IWLA chairman through the 2015 IWLA Convention & Expo, March 8-10, 2015, in Savannah, Ga.
