2014 IWLA Legislative Fly-in & 2014 IWLA Chemical Council Meeting
(PLUS: Pharmaceutical/Medical Device Education Session)
IWLA Makes Its Presence Known During Election-Year Fly-in
Program Overview & Faculty
Each fall, the International Warehouse Logistics Association organizes the IWLA Legislative Fly-in. This event brings together IWLA members interested in learning about and shaping legislation and regulations that affect the way warehouse logistics organizations conduct business – essentially, the IWLA Government Affairs Council.
During the Fly-in, IWLA Washington Representative Pat O’Connor gives a thorough update on where IWLA stands on the top issues and brings in regulatory experts to discuss the latest developments and compliance. Members are encouraged to schedule meetings with his/her state’s elected officials in Washington and with key players serving on important committees in Congress.
If you warehouse and handle chemicals/hazardous materials, stay in D.C. for the IWLA Chemical Council meeting in conjunction with the Fly-in. IWLA members will discuss/review the Responsible Warehousing Protocol program and outline new goals and objectives for the council.
In addition, this special meeting includes experts you won’t to miss. Discover new developments about U.S. Occupation Safety Hazard Administration (OSHA) Global Harmonization Standards and the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) Program Authorization and Accountability Act. Experts will also review a recently introduced bill, by Reps. Patrick Meehan, (R-PA), Gene Green (D-TX), and Michael McCaul (R-TX) that authorizes CFATS through 2017.
IF YOU HANDLE ANY MEDICAL DEVICES OR PHARMACEUTICALS: Special Education Session
IWLA has been working closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to roll out the Drug Supply Chain Security Act. The FDA is in the midst of issuing compliance guidance before the Jan. 1, 2015, enactment deadline and has been open and receptive to recognizing 3PLs in this guidance. This learning opportunity will bring members face-to-face with the FDA for education on the guidance that has been issued and informal discussion.
