Dallas Supply-chain Leader Ken Johnson Joins IWLA Board of Directors
April 23, 2014 (DES PLAINES, Ill.) –Members of the International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA), the only trade association for the warehouse logistics industry, recently elected Ken Johnson, president & CEO of Shippers Warehouse, Inc, based in Dallas, Texas, to a three-year term on the IWLA Board of Directors. Johnson formally joined the board March 25 during 2014 IWLA Convention & Expo in Phoenix, Ariz.
Johnson began his career in logistics as a rate clerk with a small less-than-truckload carrier (Daltex Logistics) in 1974 and moved through the ranks quickly from management to executive positions in a number of logistics companies. He served as Shippers Warehouse vice president of operations from 1996 to June 2008 when he and a colleague purchased a majority stock position in the company.
Founded in 1901, Shippers Warehouse operates nine facilities consisting of more than 5 million square feet in Texas, Georgia, Illinois and California. With a strong emphasis on the grocery industry, Shippers also provides world-class supply chain services to customers in the automotive, pharmaceutical, home improvement, printing, janitorial, chemical, furniture, confectionary, cosmetics and retail industries.
“Ken’s strong knowledge of transportation and regulations of warehousing various products will benefit the development of IWLA Councils, which are special interest groups within IWLA,” says IWLA President & CEO Steve DeHaan. “IWLA Councils are still in the beginning phase of development and we will look to Ken and to other board members to strengthen what we have and create new councils that address industry developments.”
Johnson has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He lives in Irving, Texas with his wife Pam, and he is a past president in the Irving Sunrise Rotary Club. He and Pam have two grown children.
